MPA-012: ADMINISTRATIVE THEORY

This assignment consists of Sections I and II. There are five questions in each section. You have to answer a total of five questions in about 500 words each. It is necessary to attempt at least two questions from each section. Each question carries 20 marks.
SECTION-I
1) Discuss the nature of an organisation and bring out the characteristics and functions of formal and informal organisations.
2) Describe the general principles of administration.
3) Analyse F.W. Taylor contribution towards the Scientific Management Theory.
4) Explain Max Weber’s views on Authority.
5) Examine the views of Chris Argyris on human personality and its impact on the working of organisation.
SECTION-II
6) Describe Douglas McGregor’s Theory ‘X ‘and Theory ‘Y’.
7) Discuss the views of David Easton and Chester Barnard on the Systems Approach.
8) ‘Bureaucracy and Administration could be analysed using the Public Choice Approach’. Comment.
9) Bring out the importance of Critical Theory in Public Administration.
10) Critically examine the first and second Minnowbrook Conferences.
