MPA-011: STATE, SOCIETY AND PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

This assignment consists of Sections I and II. There are five questions in each section. You have to answer a total of five questions in about 500 words each. It is necessary to attempt at least two questions from each section. Each question carries 20 marks.
SECTION-I
1) Discuss Karl Marx’s and Max Weber’s conceptualisation of the society -administration relationship.
2) Examine the Liberal and Marxist perspectives on the nature of the State.
3) Describe Gandhian Polity and his theory of Trusteeship.
4) Explain the changing nature of norms for citizens’ participation in administration.
5) Analyse the institutional devices and strategies for prevention of corruption.
SECTION-II
6) Discuss the role of bureaucracy in policy implementation.
7) Write a note on the structural and functional evolution of the Indian State.
8) ‘The nature of conflict resolution varies at the macro and micro levels’ Comment.
9) Describe the good governance initiatives in the Indian context.
10) Examine the relationship among the State, market and civil society.
